January 28 - Cold Glow The warm colors of a winter sunrise cast a glow over sea smoke rising from Lake Superior on this -35 below-zero morning. Sea smoke forms when frigid Canadian air moves over the relatively warm water surface. Warm air is less dense than cold air, so the sea smoke rises similarly to smoke. January 29 - Moonshine at Gooseberry Falls Frozen waterfalls at Gooseberry Falls State Park look much different, bathed in the moonlight of a full January moon.
