July 26 - Tall Ship Sorlandet - The majestic Sorlandet in full sail on Lake Superior. Sorlandet is the world's oldest and most authentic fully-rigged ship still in active service. The Sorlandet visited Duluth in 2013 as part of a Tall Ships Festival. With a warm breeze filling sails, the Sorlandet set sail on Lake Superior to its next port of call. The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns. Ecclesiastes 1:6
July 27 - Summer Splendor - Palisade Head near Silver Bay MN on the North Shore of Lake Superior is a hidden gem for photographing the shoreline of the big lake. The lichen-covered sheer cliffs drop 300 feet into the crystal clear water. You can see Shovel Point at Tettegouche State Park in the distance, a popular spot for rock climbing. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2
July 28 - Pastel Morning - The Duluth South Pier Lighthouse is a great place to watch late July sunrises slip over the horizon. It's interesting how the shape of the sun is distorted near the horizon as the light is refracted differently near the water surface of Lake Superior. The sound of the gulls, waves slapping the beach, and the cool fresh air drifting in off the lake made for good memories. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Genesis 1:3
