August 25- Split Rock Lighthouse-Centinal of the Big Lake - Built in 1910, this beautiful lighthouse could only be accessed by water for nearly 15 years. In 1924, the lighthouse became more easily reachable for keepers and families when a road was cut through the forest. Tourists made quick use of the new roadway, and Split Rock Lighthouse became one of the most photographed destinations in Minnesota. Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Psalm 71:3
August 26 - The Apostle Islands sit just offshore from the Bayfield Peninsula on Lake Superior. Erosion of the sandstone has carved out sea caves which can be visited by boat during the summer and on skies during colder winters. The caves are one of the region's wonders and give new meaning to "Heaven on Earth." "Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. Isaiah 26:4
