The Milky Way makes its appearance in the Northern Hemisphere, beginning in February and lasts through November. Quiet nights at Split Rock State Park is a great time to view the display as it makes its transit across the sky with other heavenly objects. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psa 19-1
Sunrise breaks over sheet ice on the North Shore. With waves rapidly breaking the surface ice on Lake Superior up into shards, the advance of Spring is a sure thing. And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years." Genesis 1:14 Spring's new life is a good thought and the "New Life" promised in Jesus Christ is indeed the same promise.
Summer sunrises over Lake Superior come in the early hours of 5AM. A trip to the usually cool lakeshore to take in a "Superior Sunrise", makes the loss of sleep, a small price to pay, for the beauty to behold.
