Faithfulness of God

Faithfulness of God

God's faithfulness ensures that He will never be or act in a way that contradicts Himself.

God is big, broad, and unmatched in every way. He never forgets, never disappoints, falters, and never breaks His promises. Therefore does the believer exclaim, "His compassions fail not, they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness" (Lam 3:22-23).

The Bible is full of examples of God's faithfulness. For example, more than four thousand years ago, He said, "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease" (Gen 8:22). Every year brings more evidence of God's faithfulness to this promise.

Everything God says or does must be in accord with His faithfulness. He will always be truthful to Himself, His creation, and His works. God's constancy ensures that He will never cease to be who and what He is, just as His immutability ensures that He will never cease to be who and what He is.

Here is the kind of God you serve: Everything God says or does must be consistent with all of His traits, including fidelity. Every thought God has, every word He speaks, and every action He takes must be compatible with His faithfulness, wisdom, goodness, justice, holiness, love, truth, and other characteristics.

God is a God of justice, holiness, and truth, as well as a God of grace. Because He is a faithful God, our God will always remain true to His nature.

That is the fact in front of us: God is faithful! Because He is unchangeable, He will remain faithful. Because God is never partially anything, He is perfectly faithful. God is absolutely all of who He is, and He is never only a part of who He is.
