September 24 - Colored Carpet - Entering the last week of September, the inland forest ridges are nearing peak fall colors and are stunning to see, especially from the air. The brilliant colors have been in the leaves since they first popped out last May; however, the chlorophyll breaks down because of the loss of daylight hours and rapidly cooling temperatures, and the green color disappears. Instead, the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves their fall color. The breathtaking autumn colors are the grand finale of a season of growth and help to make us aware that a season of rest will soon come upon the landscape. Seasons - A Time for Everything For everything, there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3 The Beauty of God in Creation Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. Isaiah 40:26
