The Photographer- Dennis O'Hara
Born and raised in Duluth, I now live 10 miles north of Duluth on Caribou Lake. My photography career started in the early 70's when I operated multiple types of cameras from the back seat of a RF-4C reconnaissance jet with the Minnesota Air National Guard. After retirement from the Air Guard in 1992 I stepped into nature photography as an avocation while employed full time at Minnesota Power as a Power System Operator. In May of 2006 I retired from Minnesota Power and now do outdoor photography for fun and business as owner of Northern Images Photography.
At age 60, I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Debby, to whom I have been married for 38 years. With three children and five grandchildren, life as a dad and grandpa gives me great joy.
I am always adding more images, so stop back and visit again, or, sign up for the "Photo Journal" that I occasionally publish.

Northern Images Website
I started the Northern Images website in 1992 for the pure enjoyment of sharing the beauty of Duluth and the Lake Superior Region with people like yourself. After 16 years, the joy of sharing God's creation, still motivates me to keep adding pictures to the 1500 that are already on the web site.
I hope you enjoy the scenery as much as I did when I was actually taking the pictures.

Photography is the process of capturing images produces by light. The phenomenon of light capture becomes an artform in itself that includes meteorology, astronomy, geography, and computer operations including digital capture, storage, and printing.
The human brain is an incredible organ; each image can trigger our minds eye to rerun stored memories such as sunrises on the ocean, and family events with incredible accuracy.
You can return to the same place many times with each image being different, depending on the light.

Through the years, I have come to realize that God made nature to reveal himself to us. Whether you are enjoying a summer sunset, focusing on a lovely wildflower or hiking through a forest dressed in autumn colors you cannot help but be awed by God's creation.
