With open water on Lake Superior, this mornings bone chilling cold was sure to produce some interesting scenes along the lake shore.
Mid-February and below zero temperatures are still hanging around. Although the strong Northwest winds dropped the wind chill into the -50F range, they pushed the lake ice off-shore exposing the relatively warm lake water to the frigid air. The 50 degree temperature difference between the water and the air created steam that lifted off the lake surface in waves of icy mist.
As the sun made its way above the low lying clouds this morning, it beamed from behind the lighthouse and filled the sky with warm golden sunshine. Although the temperatures only rose to -10F as the day progress, the scene warmed the heart on a beautiful winter day along the shores of Lake Superior.
God set the stars and planets into place to remind us of Him, what a privilege to be able to observe His creation.
